Canadian Maritimes trip 2017, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Canadian Maritimes travel guide, Peggys Cove, Nova Scotia http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=World1Tube The Maritimes, also called the Maritime provinces or the Canadian Maritimes, is a region of Eastern Canada consisting of three provinces: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. The Maritimes had a population of 1,813,606 in 2016. The Maritimes, along with a fourth province – Canada's easternmost province, Newfoundland and Labrador – make up Atlantic Canada. Located along the Atlantic coast, various aquatic sub-basins are located in the Maritimes, such as the Gulf of Maine and Gulf of St. Lawrence. The region is located northeast of New England, southeast of Quebec's Gaspé Peninsula, and southwest of the island of Newfoundland. All three provinces are entirely south of the southernmost extremity of Western Canada, and are the only provinces of Canada without large and sparsely populated northern regions. The notion of a Maritime Union has been proposed at various times in Canada's history; the first discussions in 1864 at the Charlottetown Conference contributed to Canadian Confederation which instead formed the larger Dominion of Canada. New Brunswick ============= New Brunswick is one of the Atlantic Provinces of Canada, and the only constitutionally bilingual province in the country. The provincial capital is Fredericton. Statistics Canada estimates the provincial population in 2008 to be 751,527; a majority are English-speaking, but there is also a large Francophone minority (32%), chiefly of Acadian origin. The province's name comes from the English and French translation for the city of Braunschweig in Lower Saxony, northern Germany, the ancestral home of the Hanoverian King George III of the United Kingdom. New Brunswick is a relatively sparsely populated province, with considerable forests forming the main body. The core of the province is virtually uninhabited, with the population very focused in the Western part of the province as well as the Eastern and Southern coastlines. See in New Brunswick =================== Fundy National Park. Near the village of Alma, Fundy National Park is 207 square kilometres of fundy coast and inland forest. The park has multiple campgrounds which include wilderness and more comfortable ones. There are over twenty waterfalls in Fundy National Park. Reversing Falls. A one of a kind adventure where the flow of the Saint John River reverses when the Bay of Fundy is at high tide! Hopewell Rocks. A group of Flowerpot rocks located in the community of Hopewell Cape. Visit New Brunswick's national parks: ----------------------------------------------------------- Kouchibouguac National Park[9]. Located along the shores of the Northumberland Strait, Kouchibouguac National Park is home to much wildlife and glorious beaches. Camping is available in the park. The Kouchibouguac park is probably best known for its sand dunes, and shallow protected tidal pool beaches, which offer very warm swimming. Roosevelt Campobello International Park. Former U.S president Franklin D. Roosevelts summer retreat from 1921-1936. Located on the southern portion of Campobello island, this was also the island where Franklin D. Roosevelt Jr. was born. Mount Carleton. A remote mountain (highest in maritimes) perfect for wilderness lovers And see some of the other unusual attractions New Brunswick has to offer: Old Sow With a diameter of 75 metres or 250 feet, Old Sow is the largest tidal whirlpool in the western hemisphere. Old Sow is located off the south-western shore of Deer Island. Grand Falls and Gorge World Pond Hockey Championships Nova Scotia ============= Nova Scotia is one of the Atlantic Provinces of Canada. Nova Scotia consists of a very large peninsula (known as the "mainland"), connected to the province of New Brunswick by a narrow strip of land, and includes Cape Breton Island, which is now joined to the mainland by the Canso Causeway. See in Nova Scotia ---------------------------- Peggys Cove Lighthouse, 35 km SW of Halifax on road 333 is a lighthouse on rounded rocks. The lighthouse is a post office, there is a restaurant and tourist information but otherwise it is just big rocks with a dozen small house and 60 people living there. Outside Peggys Cove on the 333 there are plenty of B&B's and restaurants. Swissair Memorial, close to Peggys Cove on the 333. Cape Breton highlands (especially in the Fall) Citadel Hill, located in downtown Halifax. The Southern Nova Scotia Biosphere, Tobeatic Wilderness Area, and Kejimikujik National Park in the southern half of the province--the largest protected wilderness area in Atlantic Canada Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site, the largest reconstructed 18th-century French fortified town in North America.

Travel video about destination Halifax in Canada. Halifax is part of Canada's federal state of Nova Scotia. The peninsula has a population of 333,000 and it is the country's oldest British settlement, yet has managed to retain all the charm and tranquility of a small town. After Sydney, Halifax has the second largest harbor in the world and is one of the region's few harbors that is free from ice throughout the year. Lobsters, oysters, mussels and fish soup are but a few of the menu items that appear in the seafood restaurants of the Atlantic District. The Maritime Museum covers the history of the fishing industry on Canada's Atlantic coastline and also the history of navigation. Boats and small models illustrate the development of ship-building and include great seafarers and many remarkable exhibits. In 1917, two ships collided in Halifax Harbor. This led to an explosion that destroyed half the city when 2,000 people perished and 9,000 were injured. In April 1912, the loss of the supposedly unsinkable passenger ship, the Titanic, was caused to its collision with an iceberg and it was from Halifax that the rescue ships embarked. The famous train, The Ocean, embarks from close to the harbor and its impressive stainless steel carriages date back to the 1950s. Halifax is an historic city set in a country with a vast and amazing landscape, a flamboyant metropolis that unites the past with the present day.

Hobart sightseeing will no doubt include the Maritime Museum, which celebrates Hobart’s ties to the sea. Go for a sail on the Lady Nelson, a tall ship that makes regular excursions out to the harbor. You’ll work up an appetite trimming the sails and steering the ship, so why not venture to the Salamanca Market? For over 30 years, this market has featured fresh produce, local artwork, and clothing, and you’re bound to score a good bargain. Next, go upriver to MONA, the Museum of Old and New Art. This building descends three floors down into the cliffs surrounding it, and its often dark-natured artwork is featured in vast, cavernous spaces. All that art is bound to make you thirsty, so pay a visit to some of the wineries dotting Hobart’s surrounding landscape. Sip responsibly on a glass of wine, nibble a wedge of cheese, and enjoy the rolling green hills around you. Now this is living! What will you do on your Hobart tour? Travel video about destination Amalfitana in Italy. The Costa D'Amalfi in the south of Italy is both wild and beautiful, framed by the Tyrrhenian Sea and the foothills of the Lattari Mountains as well as historic and picturesque towns.Sorrento marks the beginning of a journey through the "land where the lemon trees blossom" and along one of the most beautiful panoramic roads in the world, the Amalfitana. Sorrento's secrets lie hidden in numerous cloisters, gardens and courtyards and within the footsteps of European history. They all came here, Greeks, Romans, Normans, French and Spanish, to a place that since ancient times has been used for recreation. Until the end of the nineteenth century the Amalfi Coast was mainly accessible from the sea but later a road was built, the Amalfitana. It is around twenty five miles long, with many sharp curves, and often seems to hover above the sea. Amalfi is the beating heart of the coast and .today a world famous resort that is squeezed into the mouth of a valley of mills. In the Middle Ages, along with Pisa, Genoa and Venice, Amalfi was one of Italy’s most powerful maritime republics and its prosperity showed. High above the coast is Ravello that in the ninth century belonged to the League of Cities of the Amalfi Republic and served as a defence against the Normans. It boasted twelve churches plus various convents and palaces in mediaeval Moorish architecture that highlighted a glorious era of luxury and wealth. One of the most beautiful roads in the world, the Amalfitana travels along a remarkable coastline and through character–rich locations that are full of the varied architecture that only the pages of history can endow. -------------- Watch more travel videos ► http://goo.gl/HYQdhg Join us. Travel video about destination Göta Kanal in Sweden. The Göta Canal is Sweden's construction of the millennium and connects Kattegatt on the west coast with the east coast of the Baltic Sea, and is the main waterway through Sweden, from Gothenburg to Stockholm. Gothenburg is a seaport that was founded in 1621 and on Packhus Quay, close to both the Maritime Centre and the Opera, the Wilhelm Tham on which we shall travel across Sweden, awaits us. Shortly before Trollhättan our first adventure begins as the boat ascends within a masterpiece of canal design. Over a short distance, six lock systems built in a row overcome a height difference of forty four metres. One lock after the other opens up, and the inflow of water raises the boat to the next level. Our journey leads into the Bottensjön that is connected to Lake Vättern until we finally arrive at the port of Karlsborg. Behind the walls of Karlsborg Fortress are barracks, various buildings and a church. A truly massive structure, built in 1809 after Sweden had lost Finland to Russia. At Berg the captain skilfully steers the boat into the Carl Johans locks. Our descent is complete and we continue on the long drawn-out Lake Roxen. Again, a natural body of water forms part of the eastern Göta Canal, a remnant of the Ice Age, thirty three metres above sea level. The crossing of southern Sweden has only been made possible due to the construction of the Göta Canal, an amazing waterway with sixty six locks and countless bridges. -------------- Watch more travel videos ► http://goo.gl/HYQdhg Join us. Get to know Liverpool, England, where the River Mersey meets the Irish Sea. This charming city is filled with maritime history, Beatlemania, and places of worship. Begin your English adventures at the Three Graces, which include the Royal Liver Building, Cunard Building, and Port of Liverpool Building. These iconic and architecturally magnificent structures sit in Pier Head, overlooking the River Mersey. View the buildings in all their glory at the nearby Museum of Liverpool. Then head to U-Boat Story to explore a previously sunken German submarine, followed by a trip to the Merseyside Maritime Museum, where you’ll learn boatloads of information about ships of the past, from the Titanic to the Lusitania. As long as you’re in Liverpool, explore the fabulous four’s old stomping grounds. The Beatles played more than 300 gigs at Cavern Club, while the Casbah Coffee Club is where Beatlemania took off. To learn more about the epic band, roam around the memorabilia exhibits at The Beatles Story, a museum where you can marvel at John Lennon’s glasses and George Harrison’s first guitar. What’s more, you can visit the grave of Eleanor Rigby—who inspired the famous song—along with the bandstand that prompted the “Sergeant Peppersalbum. Still looking for more adventures? Dabble in the city’s religious side and check out the Anglican Cathedral. It was engineered by a 22-year-old architecture student who won a design contest. Afterwards, visit the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, known as “Paddy’s Wigwam,” which exudes the free spirt and charm of the 1960s. Both of these structures boast magnificent designs and are considered architectural splendors. There’s much more to Liverpool, though. Its football fans are die-hard, while the estates, such as Sudley House and Croxteth Hall, are historical treasures. However you decide to spend your adventures in this English town, check out our Liverpool travel guide for more tips and recommendations. http://www.expedia.com/Liverpool.d6046241.Destination-Travel-Guides -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow us on social media: Twitter: https://twitter.com/Expedia Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/expedia Instagram: http://instagram.com/expedia Pinterest: http://www.pinterest.com/Expedia/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/+Expedia -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow us on our travel blog, Viewfinder: http://viewfinder.expedia.com/

http://www.expedia.com/San-Diego.d178304.Destination-Travel-Guides Welcome to San Diego, often called the birthplace of California. Start your San Diego tour with a stop in Old Town, a historic park filled with buildings dating back to the 1820s. If you want something a little livelier, go a few miles south to check out the Gaslamp District, full of Victorian-era architecture and a thriving bar and club scene. Bringing the kids with you, or looking for a more sedate afternoon? Stop by the San Diego Zoo and spend some time with the many animals taking up residence there – including some of the few pandas outside of China. Explore San Diego’s ties to the sea by touring the U.S.S. Midway, Navy Pier, and Maritime Museum. From there, it’s just a skip across the bay to Coronado, where you can lay out in the sun and soak up some rays in a quiet beach town. Round out your day with a trip to “the jewel,” better known as La Jolla, and indulge in some of the best seafood and Mexican food you’ll find anywhere. Don’t forget to say “Hi” to the sea lions. We’ll be giving you all the essential information that you need to Travel better. Covering tips on money, language, getting around, and of course the iconic leaning tower. But first here’s bit about this small but historic city. Once a powerful maritime city state, modern Pisa is a small town packed full of culture, with a long and interesting history. Although it’s iconic leaning tower made it world famous, there is much more to Pisa than this one landmark. Friendly locals, great food, and classic architecture, make it one of our favourite places to visit in Italy. Pisa has one airport that’s only one short hop from the City centre, and it’s here where our guide starts Pisa airport is the main gateway into Tuscany, and receives almost 5 million passengers every year. It’s really close to town, and transfers are available by public bus, taxi or the Pisa Mover service. When taking the bus look out for the big blue City bus signs. Taking the Lam Rossa line towards Pisa, Tickets cost €1.20, buses leave every 10 minutes and the journey takes 6 minutes to Pisa Centrale. A taxi should cost around €10, with an extra €2.55 charge on Sundays and public holidaysNew in 2017 the Pisa Mover shuttle service costs €2.70 each way and gets you into town in just 5 minutes. It’s defiantly our recommended way to get into the centre. Pisa is a small city and one that’s best enjoyed on foot, infant it’s usually quicker and easier this way. For example a walk from Pisa Centrale should take no more than twenty minutes. The bus service in Pisa uses three main lines; red, green and blue. The red line, ro LAM Rossa, is the one that takes you to the Leaning Tower. Tickets are available in tobacco shops, the station and airport. Buy your ticket before you travel and then validate as you board. Bear in mind that after 9pm the buses switch to a reduced night service until midnight. Tickets are available in 70, 120 and 240 minute variations and the 70-minute ticket is also available in books of 4 or 10. Driving in Pisa is similar to other popular Italian cities, in that it has a limited-traffic-zone, called the ZTL. Driving in this zone will incur a fine between €60 and €100 each time you pass a traffic camera (meaning you can get fined multiple times for driving along the same street). The Leaning Tower is one of Italy’s most iconic sights, and is what Pisa is best known for, here are the key facts: The Towers characteristic lean is caused by a combination of it’s small foundations and the soft soil on which it was built. After a programme of structural strengthening was completed in 2001 the tower is now safe to enter. When buying tickets you'll be given a time slot to return to enter to the tower. This could be up to 3 hours after purchase. So we think it’s well worth booking your tickets in advance to avoid the long wait. Only 40 people are allowed inside at any one time, and children under 8 are not permitted at all. No bags at all are allowed in the tower. You can take a camera, but your bag must go in the free security deposit. You're allowed 35 minutes inside the tower after entering. Opening times are varied, we'll link to the official website in the description to the official website.

http://bookinghunter.com Stockholm is the capital of Sweden and the largest city of Fennoscandia. Stockholm is located on Sweden's south-central east coast, where the freshwater Lake Mälaren - Sweden's third largest lake - flows out into the Baltic Sea. The central parts of the city consist of fourteen islands that are continuous with the Stockholm archipelago. The geographical city centre is situated on the water, in Riddarfjärden bay. Over 30% of the city area is made up of waterways and another 30% is made up of parks and green spaces. The most important places to visit in Stockholm: Vasa Museum (this is Sweden's National Maritime Museum. On display is the famous Vasa ship, the only preserved 17th century ship of its kind), Stockholm Royal Palace (the official residence of the Swedish monarch. It's a former site of a 14th century fortress), Town Hall (a key landmark for the city of Sweden. More than eight million bricks were used to construct this beautiful building), Drottningholm Palace (a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This stunning architectural gem built in the 1600's is the private home of the Royal family) and many more. This video offers a lot of tips to help you plan the perfect vacation. If you want to save time and money, the most important Stockholm travel tip is to compare prices before booking a hotel room or a flight. You can do this for free on http://bookinghunter.com, a site that searches through hundreds of other travel websites in real time for the best travel deals available.
