Get to know Liverpool, England, where the River Mersey meets the Irish Sea. This charming city is filled with maritime history, Beatlemania, and places of worship. Begin your English adventures at the Three Graces, which include the Royal Liver Building, Cunard Building, and Port of Liverpool Building. These iconic and architecturally magnificent structures sit in Pier Head, overlooking the River Mersey. View the buildings in all their glory at the nearby Museum of Liverpool. Then head to U-Boat Story to explore a previously sunken German submarine, followed by a trip to the Merseyside Maritime Museum, where you’ll learn boatloads of information about ships of the past, from the Titanic to the Lusitania. As long as you’re in Liverpool, explore the fabulous four’s old stomping grounds. The Beatles played more than 300 gigs at Cavern Club, while the Casbah Coffee Club is where Beatlemania took off. To learn more about the epic band, roam around the memorabilia exhibits at The Beatles Story, a museum where you can marvel at John Lennon’s glasses and George Harrison’s first guitar. What’s more, you can visit the grave of Eleanor Rigby—who inspired the famous song—along with the bandstand that prompted the “Sergeant Peppersalbum. Still looking for more adventures? Dabble in the city’s religious side and check out the Anglican Cathedral. It was engineered by a 22-year-old architecture student who won a design contest. Afterwards, visit the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, known as “Paddy’s Wigwam,” which exudes the free spirt and charm of the 1960s. Both of these structures boast magnificent designs and are considered architectural splendors. There’s much more to Liverpool, though. Its football fans are die-hard, while the estates, such as Sudley House and Croxteth Hall, are historical treasures. However you decide to spend your adventures in this English town, check out our Liverpool travel guide for more tips and recommendations. http://www.expedia.com/Liverpool.d6046241.Destination-Travel-Guides -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow us on social media: Twitter: https://twitter.com/Expedia Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/expedia Instagram: http://instagram.com/expedia Pinterest: http://www.pinterest.com/Expedia/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/+Expedia -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow us on our travel blog, Viewfinder: http://viewfinder.expedia.com/

http://www.expedia.com/San-Diego.d178304.Destination-Travel-Guides Welcome to San Diego, often called the birthplace of California. Start your San Diego tour with a stop in Old Town, a historic park filled with buildings dating back to the 1820s. If you want something a little livelier, go a few miles south to check out the Gaslamp District, full of Victorian-era architecture and a thriving bar and club scene. Bringing the kids with you, or looking for a more sedate afternoon? Stop by the San Diego Zoo and spend some time with the many animals taking up residence there – including some of the few pandas outside of China. Explore San Diego’s ties to the sea by touring the U.S.S. Midway, Navy Pier, and Maritime Museum. From there, it’s just a skip across the bay to Coronado, where you can lay out in the sun and soak up some rays in a quiet beach town. Round out your day with a trip to “the jewel,” better known as La Jolla, and indulge in some of the best seafood and Mexican food you’ll find anywhere. Don’t forget to say “Hi” to the sea lions. After the maritime victory over the Swedish army, Peter I the Great decided that he is going to build a city on the small islands and lagoons of the mouth of the river Neva. The Russian, Italian and French masters dreamed wonderful Baroque and Classicist palaces to the banks of the canals. The Church of the Savior on Blood, the Saint Isaac's Cathedral, the Peter and Paul Fortress, the blue white and gold Smolny and the Winter Palace all make the city of white nights unforgettable. The Hermitage has one of the largest art collections of the world, but for those who find this less than enough, there is the Russian Museum, and the suburbs of Peterhof, Pushkin and Pavlovsk. -------------- Watch more travel videos ► http://goo.gl/HYQdhg Join us. Travel video about destination Halifax in Canada. Halifax is part of Canada's federal state of Nova Scotia. The peninsula has a population of 333,000 and it is the country's oldest British settlement, yet has managed to retain all the charm and tranquility of a small town. After Sydney, Halifax has the second largest harbor in the world and is one of the region's few harbors that is free from ice throughout the year. Lobsters, oysters, mussels and fish soup are but a few of the menu items that appear in the seafood restaurants of the Atlantic District. The Maritime Museum covers the history of the fishing industry on Canada's Atlantic coastline and also the history of navigation. Boats and small models illustrate the development of ship-building and include great seafarers and many remarkable exhibits. In 1917, two ships collided in Halifax Harbor. This led to an explosion that destroyed half the city when 2,000 people perished and 9,000 were injured. In April 1912, the loss of the supposedly unsinkable passenger ship, the Titanic, was caused to its collision with an iceberg and it was from Halifax that the rescue ships embarked. The famous train, The Ocean, embarks from close to the harbor and its impressive stainless steel carriages date back to the 1950s. Halifax is an historic city set in a country with a vast and amazing landscape, a flamboyant metropolis that unites the past with the present day.

Welcome to Oslo, the capital city of Norway. Centuries ago, Viking longships prowled the waters around Norway. Some of those longships survived the ensuing years and found their way to the Viking Ship Museum, which is a must-see on any Oslo tour. The three longships on display here have been recovered from various parts of the country, and the museum also contains a number of artifacts from the Viking Age. Norway’s rich connection to the sea did not stop with the Vikings, though; just over a mile away from the Viking Ship Museum are several other educational complexes dedicated to the salt water that flows through Oslo’s veins. Visit the Norwegian Maritime Museum, the Kon-Tiki Museum, and the Fram Museum to get a fuller idea of Oslo’s seaborne heritage. While in town, stop by the Nobel Peace Center—yes, this is the very location where the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded. The center itself showcases winners of the award, and highlights their impact on the world at large. After spending an afternoon wandering the center, prepare yourself for an evening of extraordinary live performances, as the Oslo Opera House is just a short walk away. This majestic building, with its sloping roofs and massive wall of windows, has been compared to an iceberg in appearance. Besides being a popular performing arts venue, it’s also a popular place for locals to meet before heading out into town. If you plan your Oslo sightseeing during the summer, prepare yourself for long days of endless sunshine. Oslo’s position in the northern hemisphere ensures that the sun does not set until after 11 o’clock at night during the warm season. Who said you couldn’t get more hours in the day? http://www.expedia.com/Hobart.d6052485.Destination-Travel-Guides When you first arrive in Hobart, you may not be aware that you’re exploring a former prison. This onetime penal colony is located between Mount Wellington and Port Hobart, and features a number of exquisite colonial buildings in breathtaking natural surroundings. There’s a variety of things to do within the city, so chow down on seafood from a waterfront restaurant before stopping by one of the galleries built into old whale oil warehouses. Don’t forget to check out the Hobart Theatre, a must-see on any Hobart tour. This structure was built by convicts brought to Australia in the 19th century, and it still hosts live performances today. Hobart sightseeing will no doubt include the Maritime Museum, which celebrates Hobart’s ties to the sea. Go for a sail on the Lady Nelson, a tall ship that makes regular excursions out to the harbor. You’ll work up an appetite trimming the sails and steering the ship, so why not venture to the Salamanca Market? For over 30 years, this market has featured fresh produce, local artwork, and clothing, and you’re bound to score a good bargain. Next, go upriver to MONA, the Museum of Old and New Art. This building descends three floors down into the cliffs surrounding it, and its often dark-natured artwork is featured in vast, cavernous spaces. All that art is bound to make you thirsty, so pay a visit to some of the wineries dotting Hobart’s surrounding landscape. Sip responsibly on a glass of wine, nibble a wedge of cheese, and enjoy the rolling green hills around you. Now this is living! What will you do on your Hobart tour? ✱ 347 Hotels in San Francisco - Lowest Price Guarantee ► http://goo.gl/C2GdGK Travel video about destination San Francisco in the United States of America. It is difficult to believe that this lively, cosmopolitan city is under constant threat from earthquake, the only rumble being that of the famous cable cars as they vie up and down the city's hilly roads. A boat trip is a great way to see Fisherman's Wharf, various maritime museums, the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz, former home of Robert 'The Birdman' Stroud, Machine Gun Kelly and Al Capone. Built in 1776, San Francisco's first stone building, Mission Dolores, still stands today. Led by the Franciscan Padres, the Christianized Indians built a church, in the cemetery of which many of the city's original settlers were laid to rest. The Transamerica Pyramid has become the city's most famous landmark. Earthquake proof, having been built on hydraulic spring foundations, the 260 metre high pyramid structure is situated in the heart of the Financial District. Located between three hills, San Francisco's Chinatown is the largest Chinese settlement outside Asia with pagodas, colorful bunting, decorated balconies and Chinese characters combining with the sounds and exotic aromas of this fascinating area. The Painted Ladies are charming Victorian wooden houses situated on the fringe of Alamo Square and the Haas-Lilienthal House is a well-maintained jewel of a bygone era. In San Francisco, history and modernity combine and give the visitor, "That California Feeling!"

A day at the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk, CT with Marc, Cliff and Ahra on a Sunday afternoon in January 2016. Saw the Shark Dive Show where they have a guide in scuba gear actually in the tank with the sharks (and she has a microphone and answers questions as well as giving information on the sharks). Also saw the Touch a Jellyfish and Touch a Ray areas, along with seeing the meerkats, seals, sea turtles and other exhibits. The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk is located at 10 North Water Street in Norwalk, CT 06854 (203-852-0700). Definitely a fun time.
